Solitaire Namibia Solitaire Namibia Africa

South of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, we went to Solitaire to prepare for our Sossusvlei desert camp adventure. Solitaire is a small settlement that has little much to offer than a gas station, a post office and a local bar. Nonetheless it is a very common stop on the way to the sand dunes of Namibia.

The Namib Desert is known for its orange coloured sand dunes, curious trees...

Namibia was the last country we would travel through before returning to South Africa where our tour had begun and so we were making our way down to the southern part of the country heading from Kamanjab where we visited the Cheetah Park to Usakos.

Usakos is located in the Namib Desert and is the nearest town to the Spitzkoppe Mountains where our next rest camp would be pulled up.

In Kamanjab, southwest of the Etosha National Park we visited the Ojitotongwe Cheetah Park Namibia and stayed here as well since the park offers accomodation at the Ojitotongwe Lodge as well.

The owners of the Ojitotongwe Lodge provided us with a tour guide who took us on some unforgettable walk safari's and cheetah feedings so we could get really close to these amazing animals.

After our visit to the game reserve in Northern Botswana and our flight over the Okavango Delta in Maun we crossed the border with Namibia and drove in direction of Okaukuejo, the gateway to the Etosha National Park.

Like the Chobe National Park in Botswana the Etosha National Park is one of Namibia's touristic drawcards and a beautiful part of the country to visit.
